Geodrill Donations
By Marc Barnaby, General Manager.
The items donated to us by Geodrill have been distributed to beneficiaries. I made it clear that our principle contractor, Geodrill, made these donations to us to distribute among the communities as a token of their commitment to good community relations. These donations were very well received and the recipients were very grateful for Geodrill’s kindness.
Nanga, Tangasia, Yiziri, and Nadowli (x2) Primary Schools received 12 backpack school bags each (total of 60 bags) containing pencils and writing pads. Each school has six classes so the best boy and the best girl in each class will receive a prize for the efforts. This donation will encourage students to attend school and work hard at their studies:
The Nadowli Queen of Peace Senior High School received the sports equipment including:
10 soccer balls; 10 volley balls; 10 basket balls; hand pumps; and enough soccer tops, shorts, socks, and boots for 2 teams. This is the only senior high school in Nadowli and students come from far and wide to board and study at the school. The sports equipment will help to keep the students fit and healthy and motivate them in their academic pursuits:
St. Anne’s Vocational Training Institute (for Girls) in Nandom received sewing machines, fabric, and sewing accessories. These machines will contribute to better learning, as well as provide the girls with a means to earn some additional income to supplement the schools meagre funds:
A donation of 21 solar lamps was given to the National Farmer’s Day celebrations as prizes to the farmers chosen by the Dept. of Agriculture for being the best in their livelihood category for the year, and the remainder were given to community health workers and teachers. These people provide essential services to the community under difficult living and working conditions:
